Biography
Attorney Michael Rooney grew up in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and spent the majority of his life there. He graduated from La Salle College High School in Wyndmor, Pennsylvania, and attended The University of Scranton. At the University of Scranton, Mike was a Resident Assistant for First Year Students, the Founder of the Running Club, a member of the Mock Trial Team, a member of the Provost Scholars, and a member of the Assessment Advisory Committee. Furthermore, he worked as a supervisor for the University of Scranton’s Tele Counseling Department in Admissions.
Following the University of Scranton, he attended Widener Commonwealth Law School, where he received the Pro-Bono Award, served on the Trial Advocacy Honor Society, served as a research assistant, served as vice president of the Environmental Law and Policy Society, and served as a student ambassador.
While in law school, Mike served as a certified legal intern at the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office, where he handled a wide range of misdemeanor and felony cases.
Following graduating from Widener Commonwealth, Mike joined the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office as a Law Clerk. Upon passing the Bar in October, he was promoted to Assistant District Attorney, where he prosecuted numerous cases for the Commonwealth. At the District Attorney’s Office, he gained experience in all types of Criminal Cases and was the head of their Juvenile Court Division. At the District Attorney’s Office, he gained significant litigation and trial experience.
Attorney Rooney has been highly active in the Monroe County Bar Association and serves on several committees, including the Children’s Advocacy Center Committee, the Internship Committee, and the Law Day Race Committee. He also serves as the President of the Young Lawyers’ Division.
Attorney Rooney is a passionate advocate dedicated to defending persons facing criminal charges. Applying the skills he learned as an Assistant District Attorney in Monroe County, he is committed to defending his clients and helping them navigate the criminal court process to obtain the best possible outcomes in their unique situations.
