Biography

Attorney Gerald J. Kanyok, Jr., is a native of Wyoming County and a graduate of the Tunkhannock Area School District in the Endless Mountains. He credits a business law class for sparking his interest in the legal field. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and a Bachelor of Administration degree in finance from Wilkes University, where he co-founded the mock trial board, participated in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, and completed an inter-session study abroad program. He then pursued his Juris Doctor at Widener University Commonwealth Law in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, focusing on tax and business law. During law school, he continued his involvement in the VITA program and volunteered at the Harrisburg Area Pro Bono clinic. In 2020, he earned his Juris Doctor and passed the Pennsylvania Bar Exam in 2023. Gerald is a member of Phi Alpha Delta, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and the Monroe County Bar Association.

In July 2023, Attorney Kanyok joined the 43rd Judicial District Monroe County Court of Common Pleas as a law clerk to the Honorable Judge C. Daniel Higgins, Jr. During this time, he gained valuable experience in the daily activities, policies, and procedures of the Monroe County Court system. Similarly, he had the opportunity to interact with virtually every area of the law, gaining valuable insight into many areas. He also volunteered and is currently the legal advisor to the Notre Dame High School mock trial team.

In September 2024, Gerald joined Cramer, Swetz, McManus, Jordan & Saylor, where he will focus on tax, real estate, wills, trusts, estates, and business law.

As a first-generation attorney from a small, hard-working rural community, Gerald is committed to helping others and upholding strong values. He enjoys volunteering in his home community, working on car projects or electronic gadgets, and CrossFit and Olympic Weight Training. He is also a CF-L1 CrossFit instructor.
